Soft gel tips are a different category of nail extension tips from traditional hard plastic tips. Made from a flexible gel-like material rather than rigid ABS plastic, soft gel tips are designed for use with gel adhesive or polygel and are cured under a UV or LED lamp rather than bonded with cyanoacrylate nail glue. This gel-to-gel bonding creates an extension that is more flexible than a hard plastic tip and feels more natural on the nail.

What Makes Soft Gel Tips Different

Traditional hard plastic tips bond with nail glue and need to be filed and shaped after an acrylic or gel overlay is applied. Soft gel tips are used in the Gel X style of nail extensions where the tip itself is the extension — filled with builder gel or polygel and cured directly on the nail with a gel adhesive rather than covered by a separate overlay product. The result is a lighter, thinner extension that feels closer to a natural nail.
