How the Cat Eye Effect Works

Cat eye gel polishes contain iron oxide or other magnetic particles suspended in the formula. When a strong nail art magnet is held close to the wet, uncured gel surface, the magnetic particles align in the direction of the magnetic field and create a line or streak of concentrated shimmer — the “cat eye” — while the surrounding gel stays as a darker colour base. Application
